Digg-ing Into Del.icio.us

It’s been an interesting year for Digg… well, mostly an interesting launch of Digg V4.  We reported back in August how the controversial overhaul completely redefined the Digg v. Reddit battle.

Now, it looks like Yahoo! might be discussing the idea of letting Digg take over social bookmarking service Del.icio.us, according to a TechCrunch article today.  With that in mind, we decided to take a quick look at what’s going on right now with Digg, Reddit, and Del.icio.us.

None of the three sends particularly huge amounts of traffic into the Chitika network, but Digg has re-taken the lead from Reddit – 0.29% to 0.23%.  What’s particularly interesting is that Del.icio.us sends about half as much traffic as Reddit.  If Digg can get their hands on the service, they’d be close to twice the size of Reddit.

We’ll see what happens, whether Yahoo! will end up having Digg control Del.icio.us.  It would certainly be a big boost for Digg, and they certainly should try to make it happen.
