Impressive Galaxy Note Web Traffic Highlights Demand for Mobile-Tablet Hybrid Devices

The Samsung Galaxy Note was released in October 2011 to most of East Asian and European markets, causing a great deal of attention and excitement over its impressive dimensions. With a 5.3 inch screen size, the Note enters the market as a device somewhere between a smartphone and tablet. The Note also has several other striking features including hand recognition and stylus friendly apps. Only a short time after its release overseas, Samsung announced sales topping one million, a trend which was expected to continue here in the US.

On February 19th, the Galaxy Note became available in the US, exclusively available at AT&T. Chitika Insights wanted to measure the level of interest for the highly anticipated device to see if Samsung is having the same success in the US as it did overseas. The analysis of this study focused on the distribution of the Samsung Galaxy Note compared other major mobile devices. Our research was comprised of a sample of hundreds of millions of mobile impressions coming out of the Chitika Ad Network, taken from a time period ranging from February 25th to March 1th. . This allowed us to measure the level of traffic seen in our network coming from the Galaxy Note. The graph below depicts the current level of internet traffic coming from Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Note.

Our results indicate that the Galaxy Note is generating an impressive amount of traffic shortly after its introduction to the US market. Our data shows that it is currently producing 17% of total traffic seen by the Galaxy Nexus, the Samsung mobile device launched in December 2011. PhoneArena.com reported last week that reported that the Galaxy Note has reached over 2 million sales globally and the Korean based manufacturer is expecting to hit 10 million sales by the end of the end of 2012.

Samsung’s new mobile phone/tablet hybrid technology is continuing to rock the mobile market. The oversized phone’s impressive performance might create a new demand for this kind of device.
