Last Thursday, Chitika was honored by the Boston Business Journal at the Ritz Carlton in Boston as a finalist for one of Massachusetts’ Healthiest Employers of 2013.
Chitika was selected as one of 5 finalists in the “small companies” category for our efforts toward creating a healthier workplace for employees. In a recent feature in the Boston Business Journal, Chitika CRO Matt Whiteley emphasized the spirit behind the change, saying, “We fully understand that our employees are our No. 1 asset, and that investing in those employee’s health and wellness is good for the employees — but it’s also good business, because healthy and happy employees are more productive.”
Its been one year since Chitika built the Performance Zone, and since its completion it has become a staple of the office. In the “P Zone,” we eat our daily catered lunches, play ping pong, host brain storming sessions, do yoga, walk at treadmill workstations, and more! We also have access to an in-office gym, and employees are encouraged to head down whenever they like. Since implementing these healthy workplace changes, we have seen an increase in employee happiness and productivity, along with a decrease in stress and sick days.
We had a great time at the breakfast ceremony, and we want to give a big thank you to the Boston Business Journal for hosting us. It was an honor to be surrounded by companies with similar health goals for their employees, and we can’t wait to see what else is in store for employee health as the year goes on!
