Most days Chitika employees are busy working on projects at our Westborough, MA headquarters looking for new and innovative ways to help our publishers and partners maximize revenue. This week a group of Chitikans took a few hours away from optimizations, analytics and modeling to get our hands dirty for a good cause — literally! We packed up our paintbrushes and power tools last Wednesday and joined forces with local MetroWest Habitat for Humanity to help build a new duplex for two local families.
Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity strives to provide affordable housing to local families in need. The houses are built strictly by volunteers, and after construction is completed, they are sold at a discounted price to pre-selected low-income families. Located close to Chitika’s U.S. headquarters, the MetroWest Habitat Chapter afforded us a fantastic opportunity to help complete homes for families in our community.
The Chitika team painted bedroom windows and doors, cut and laid sheetrock, patched drywall holes, and moved heavy materials around the site during the three-hour volunteer session. Construction manager Jon Bram and his group of seasoned volunteers showed us the ropes, helping to guide our efforts and giving us a first-hand look at how a home is built from the ground up. A special thank-you to them and Habitat coordinators Sunny Stitch and Alexandra Pollack for welcoming our group with open arms!
