As Apple’s WWDC begins today developers around the world will be tuning in physically or over the net as Apple unveils some of its latest projects and products, normally kept close under wraps at the Cupertino headquarters. Starting from humble roots in 1983, the WWDC has grown immensely over the years, setting the stage for a global lift off with the return of Steve Jobs in 1997.
As the buzz surrounding Apple’s WWDC continues to surge ahead, Chitika Insights conducted a research study to detect search-driven areas of interest in the conference. To accomplish this, Chitika Insights performed an analysis of search queries related to the WWDC, and then assembled the results in an easy to decipher word-cloud.
The following paragraphs detail the methodology behind the WWDC Word Cloud coming out of Chitika Insights:
Data Collection:
Data for the Apple WWDC Word-Cloud was collected from May 21, 2012 to June 5, 2012 leading up to the conference. Search interest was determined by analyzing all search engine based queries from the US running through the Chitika Ad network. Only queries which expressed clear intent related to Apple’s WWDC were counted in this study.
Reporting
The word cloud produced by Chitika Insights was created with the assistance of Wordle, a word cloud generating API. The cloud gives greater prominence (size) to words that appear more frequently in the source data file.
