Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is like Christmas for Mac geeks – every year, something new and exciting and very Apple is announced, and this year is no different. Already, Apple has confirmed that iCloud – a version of iTunes that stores your music remotely – will be debuted at the conference. There’s also an update of OS X (10.7 Lion) and iOS. But what else? Apple tends to surprise people with a product announcement at WWDC, so we went to the web to find out what it might be.
By analyzing search trends including a reference to WWDC, we’ve come up with the following list of Apple products that people are most interested in:
- iCloud – Not surprising, it’s been announced and people are getting excited. 50% of WWDC searches.
- iPhone – The people seem to think a new iPhone – the iPhone 5, perhaps – will be announced. 27% of searches.
- OS X Lion – Again, people know it’s coming, they’re just not as excited as they are about iCloud. 8%
- MacBook Air – Doesn’t seem likely given that the Air is one of their most recent product lines. 6%
- Mac Pro – Apple’s powerhouse tower is due for an upgrade. 3% of searches.
- iOS 5 – Lion is getting the lion’s share (get it?) of new OS attention. 2% of searches.
- iPod – Yes, the classic keeps on rolling, and 2% of searchers expect a new iPod line.
Now, we should note that Internet searchers were really, really wrong when they tried to predict the NFL draft in April. But, hey, this is what Apple fans are expecting/hoping to see at WWDC. We’ll find out starting on the 6th. What are you expecting to see?
