Look at Google Hot Trends today and most of what you see relates to the “Zombie Apocalypse” doomsday predictions. The US Center for Disease Control has even released a rather brilliant article on how to prepare for a Zombie Apocalypse. The mass interest in zombies and doomsday is due to a prediction that Judgment Day – the end of the world – is coming May 21st (that’s right, tomorrow. Maybe put off mowing your lawn until Sunday).
I was interested in what our ads looked like for users searching for info on the upcoming end of all things. Chitika is all about intent, but what’s the intent for someone searching for “Zombie Apocalypse,” or “End of the World”?
Here’s one example of some ads targeted at the search “Zombie Apocalypse”:
Pretty interesting, no? Close combat training topping the list. I suppose beating the ever-loving snot out of the zombies is one way to deal with them. Follow it up with a good zombie movie (for training, I suppose) and information on the apocalypse, and you should be good to go! End of the world? No problem.
If the Apocalypse were coming tomorrow, what would you need? If you’re searching for a Zombie Apocalypse (online), what would your intent be, and what kind of site/ad would fit your needs?
