Chrome 11: New Version, Same Fast Adaptation Rate

We have seen this before.

As I brought up back in February, upon the release of Chrome 9, Chrome usage rapidly changes from version to version as new releases occur. Unlike the more deliberate development of Internet Explorer and Firefox, Chrome is constantly updating and releasing new versions. As mentioned at the time of the Beta release, the new version contains a voice-to-text feature, a very neat addition.

With the full release yesterday, Chitika Insights decided to take a quick peek at the growth rate of Chrome 11 in the US and Canadian market. Needless to say, it’s happening as fast as always, and Chrome 11 passed 10% of Chrome traffic in the 11 am hour; the very next hour it passed 11%.

In table form, this spike in adoption can be summarized further:

Thanks to a scope large enough to attract a large audience, and a development team dedicated to improving the product, Chrome continues to enjoy great performance with each new release. It is this performance that has seen Chrome grow at a rapid rate, at the expense of the more seasoned Firefox and Internet Explorer. If there’s a good way to leapfrog your competition for the second biggest web browser, Google is showing that constant innovation is a good tactic.
